Tanzania
The origin of a commitment
In 2012, Jennifer Houdrouge discovered an orphanage in Tanzania while teaching English. This experience deeply impacted her and sparked a lasting commitment. In 2014, she returned with her mother, Véronique Houdrouge. After a long search, they found the children again, along with Julieth Kivuyo and Julius Laizer. Despite their smiles, the children faced difficult conditions, with limited food and access to education. This reality made one thing clear: action was necessary. A strong bond was formed with the children and with Julieth, who cares for them like a mother. From this encounter, Children of Africa MC was born, with the mission to provide better living conditions and a hopeful future.
Day care center
At the heart of the village of Maji Ya Chai, the association is developing a comprehensive project dedicated to the protection, education, and well-being of the most vulnerable children. Located in close proximity to the orphanage, the nursery school welcomes around thirty children aged 3 to 6 each year. Open year-round, it provides a safe and essential educational environment. Supervised by a teacher and qualified social workers, children benefit from a structured educational program, attentive support and a caring environment that fosters development from an early age.
Orphanage
As part of the same initiative, an orphanage for up to 35 children was built on the day care center site. It provides a safe and stable environment where children grow up supported by Julieth Kivuyo and a dedicated team. The center includes dormitories, sanitation facilities, a kitchen, volunteer space, water supply, solar panels, and a garden. It is gradually developing self-sufficient activities such as gardening and small-scale farming, benefiting both the children and the local community.
Sponsorship program
We have developed an individual sponsorship program to support children over time. Each sponsor supports one or several children, with no long-term commitment, from primary school through to university. All children begin their education at Silverleaf Primary School. As they transition to secondary school, we guide them to make the best choices for their future. Like Gerson, now 25, who arrived at the orphanage at a very young age. Today, he is studying Social Work in Dares Salaam. We have supported him throughout his journey. and thanks to our sponsors, he has been able to pursue his education and complete internships. This long-term educational support is made possible thanks to the loyalty of our sponsors and the new ones joining our journey.
